Come From Behind Win Marks First Victory

The Tigers hosted the Polar Bears of Hardin Northern in non-conference action on Saturday night.

The Tigers struggled to get their offense going in the first quarter and scored a whopping 0 points. They found themselves in a 0-20 hole after one quarter of play.

The second quarter started differently than the first, with Jacob Frost hitting a three from the top of the key to make it a 3-20 game. Evan North added two to the effort off an inbounds play with 6:52 left in the first half. Frost was just heating up in the second as he added another three with 6:04 left in the second and the Bears got into foul trouble.

Brandon Solly drained three free throws along with a Frost steal and coast to coast bucket to make it a 13-24 game. Frost hit yet another three followed by North posting up for two and NB went into the locker room down 18-29 at the half.

The spark had been ignited for the Tigers in the third, as North banged home a two pointer to start things off. Austin Davis posted up a big bucket, followed by North again with two of his own and we had a 24-31 game. Andrew Peters hit two off a backdoor pass from Jordan Watson followed by Davis with two free throws to close the gap to 28-37. Good defense held the Bears to that same 37 points for three minutes. Jacob Frost continued was having his way and hit two

more threes from deep in the corner, to make it 36-37 at the end of three quarters of play.

Davis hit two freebies from the charity stripe as a result of a Bear technical foul. North banged in two to keep it close and surprise, surprise Jacob Frost put a dagger in the heart of the Bears with a three from deep in the corner to tie the game at 43 with 5:48 left in the game.

Davis gave the Tigers their first lead with two free throws and 5:31 left in play. Jordan Watson hit a 10’ jumper at the 2:03 mark and then drove for two with 1:02 remaining and a 50-47 lead. Brandon Solly’s defense created a 5 second possesion turnover for the Bears that allowed Mr. Clutch, Austin Davis, hit two free throws to seal the game 51-47. Fittingly, it was Frost who hit a free throw to end the game with a 53-47 victory.

Scoring for the Tigers were: Jacob Frost with 22, Austin Davis 12, Evan North 10, Jordan Watson 4, Brandon Solly 3, and Andrew Peters 2.

The Tigers broke their winless streak and can now focus on a few more wins for the season.
