The Tigers hosted the Warriors of Mohawk in MAL action on Friday night.
The Tigers started the action with an alley-oop from Jacob Frost to Evan North for the first bucket of the game. Unfortunately there would be a long dry spell as the Tigers were only able to scrape together one more bucket off an Andrew Peters’ bank shot and they found themselves trailing 4-13 after one quarter of play.
The Tigers turned up the offense in the second quarter with Austin Davis scoring with a left handed two and Peters nailing a three from beyond the arc. Brandon Solly added to the cause with a monster block in the paint. North banked in a two off an inbounds play and was matched by Frost for two in the paint. Solly ended the offense with a free throw to end the half down 15-37.
The second half proved to be better for the Tigers as their defense picked up along with their offense. North put up three rebounds before the third one finally fell. He then put on his spin move and put in another bucket for two. Davis followed up with two buckets off of fast break opportunities. North then dropped in four free throws and grabbed a missed shot that he put back up for two. The Tigers ended the third quarter on a 15-15 scoring drive.
North started the fourth quarter with two in the paint. Davis drained a two from the charity stripe and North followed with a free throw to close the Warrior lead. Gabe DeLosReyes tossed in a free throw and took a full court steal for two to end the game with a 37-64 loss.
Scoring for the Tigers was Evan North with 17, Austin Davis 8, Andrew Peters 5, Jacob Frost 2, Brandon Solly 2, and Gabe DeLosReyes with 3.
The JV boys hosted the Warriors as well and lost a tightly fought contest. Troy Trumbull hit a three at the buzzer but it was not enough as they had dug too deep a hole in the first half.
The young Tigers actually outscored the Warriors in the second half.
They ended the contest down 31-36. Scoring for the Tigers was Tyler Trumbull with 10, Gabe DeLosReyes 9, Chase Nichols 6, Austin Ickes 3, Nathan Flores 2, and Cody Cotterman with 1.
