"Sanctuary" Workshop to be held at BGSU
Posting Date: 04/03/2014

On Monday, April 7, 2014, Dr. Sandra Bloom, a board-certified Psychiatrist, international trauma expert, author and an Associate Professor of Public Health at Drexel University, will give a presentation titled Trauma in Individuals, Families and Organizations and the process of recovery.

Her presentation, to be given at Lenhart Grand Ballroom on the Bowling Green State University campus beginning at 9 a.m., is part of a collaborative effort among several area programs and organizations working together to address health, mental health and substance abuse issues in our students.

More than 530 individuals have already registered to attend this program, and more are expected.

After Dr. Blooms half-day presentation, a follow-up Sanctuary training workshop titled “The Sanctuary Model for Trauma Informed Care: Training and Planning Workshop for Wood County Partners” will be held at the Wood County Educational Service Center, 1867 N. Research Dr., Bowling Green, OH. The day and a half-long workshop is designed for Wood County organizations to fully understand the Sanctuary Model for trauma informed care. Participants will begin planning how to implement these transformative practices and strengthen our collaborative response to trauma, creating a healthier and safer county. It will be taught and facilitated by ANDRUS Sanctuary Institute Faculty

Dr. Bloom is co-founder of the Sanctuary Institute and developed the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed organizational and culture change.

Please see the attached fliers for additional details. Contact Jennifer Wagner at
