FOSTORIA, Ohio – On Sun., April 13, 2014, Susie Shiff, along with her family, will host the 5th Annual “Run the Res” in memory of her husband Jeff who lost his battle to colon cancer in 2008.
“My children and I started ‘Run the Res’ to celebrate my husband’s life and love of running. Jeff enjoyed running the ‘res’ so the name was an easy choice,” said Susie Shiff. “He is missed greatly, but this event is one way we are carrying out his memory in a positive way that benefits others in our community.”
Registration for the event begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Brick Shelter House at City Park, near the corner of Vine and Van Buren Streets in Fostoria. At 1 p.m. there will be a Kids Race for children ages 3 – 9.
The 5K/10K will kick off at 2 p.m. with a run/walk around Reservoirs 2 and 3 (Lake Mottram and Lake Lamberjack) which are the reservoirs down Fremont and Tiffin Streets in Fostoria; the run also goes down Tiffin Street to County Road 262 and back to the finish). Participants can expect a scenic view in a laid back environment. Chip timing will be performed as well.
In 2013 alone, nearly 400 adults and children participated in the event which benefited the ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital Cancer Fund to the tune of $6,000.
