The 3rd Annual Relay for Life Benefit Recital is coming up on Saturday May 10, 2014 at 3:00 PM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, N. 2nd St. in North Baltimore, Ohio. The recital will feature sacred, classical, jazz and Broadway music. There will be a silent auction featuring art from local artists, as well as many collaborations during the recital.
Musical guests are:
A North Baltimore High School All-Female Group "Baseless", made up of Allison Byrd, Allison Beaupry, Mackenzie Potter, Lindsay Davis and Amber Williams
Instrumentalists: Benjamin Pack, Clarinet; Robert Lyberg and Tyler Chrulski, Guitar; and Logan Carles, drums
There will be a free-will donation taken at the conclusion of the concert with 100% of the profit benefiting the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life organization.
Soprano Emily Meyerson and pianist Janet Goldner are presenting a collaborative recital. The first half of the recital will feature prominent arias from operas by Puccini and Mozart, Lieder from composers such as Bach as well as some sacred music. The second half will be a little lighter featuring several Broadway tunes, jazz standards and more collaborations!
There will also be a silent auction featuring some amazing art by local artists.
A free-will offering will be taken with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society via Relay for Life. There will also be refreshments available immediately following the concert.
Emily Meyerson is in her fourth year as vocal music teacher at North Baltimore Local Schools. Emily teaches general music for preschool through
grade six and directs the middle school, high school, and A Capella choirs as well as the newly formed Powell Show Choir. In addition, Emily advises the drama club.
Emily graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Degree. She is a self-taught cellist and studied voice privately with Joan Cano, Myra Merritt, and coached with Jean Bruggeman-Kurp, Kevin Bylsma, and Douglas Wayland. Emily has appeared with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, and the Bowling Green State University Philharmonia. Emily has been a featured guest soloist in various locations in Northern Ohio and toured in 2010 with Bella Voci di camera under the direction of William Skoog. Emily currently enjoys singing in the St. Luke’s senior choir, and with her amazing collaborative pianist, the fabulous Ms. Goldner.
Janet Goldner is a 1975 graduate of NBHS and started as the organist at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church during high school. Following high school she attended BGSU, received a Bachelor of Music degree in 1979 and taught her first year of elementary music here in North Baltimore. In 1995 she returned to BGSU and earned her Master’s of Education in guidance and counseling and shifted her career focus. Janet recently retired after 31 years in education teaching elementary and middle school music as well as counseling elementary and high school guidance. Janet serves as the president of Village Council and is also the rehearsal accompanist for North Baltimore's middle school and high school choirs, as well as the accompanist for Powell Show Choir.
