LIMA (June , 2014) Ohio 18 just east of the Ohio 15 (Ottawa Avenue) and Ohio 18 (East Second Street) intersection in the city of Defiance will close Monday for approximately two months for a culvert replacement.
Sand Ridge Excavating of Cloverdale is the contractor on the project which will replace a deteriorated sandstone arch culvert, constructed in 1937, with a box culvert measuring 18 feet wide by 10 feet high. The project will extend the culvert to twice its current length to
approximately 126 feet long.
Two detours will be established for the closure. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 281 and U.S. 24 back to Ohio 15/18, or to Ohio 66, U.S. 24 and Ohio 281 back to Ohio 18.
The sidewalks on both the north and south side in the area of the culvert will be closed. The sidewalks will remain open up to Prospect Street on the west side and Ravine Avenue on the east side.
The project bid amount was approximately $711,000.
