Letter to the Editor: An 'NB' Tradition Unlike Any Other
CBS sports announcer Jim Nance quotes it every April, “A tradition unlike any other, The Masters.” This is in reference to one of the greatest golf tournaments in the United States where professional golfers from all around the world gather to compete.
I look forward to holiday traditions and my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. This holiday is different because it is simply about good food, family, and friends. Turkey dinner, Lions and Cowboys NFL football, and Black Friday shopping are just a few Thanksgiving traditions that people are most familiar.
My favorite local tradition is the gathering at the Ten Pin on Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. I look forward to running into North Baltimore High classmates from years gone by. In many regards, it is an unofficial class reunion. I’ve even crossed paths with the editor of the NBnewsXpress in years past. My family and I now live in eastern Ohio, and I relish this opportunity to catch up with old friends.
What use to be only a gathering at the Ten Pin, has in recent years turned into a Main Street pub crawl that also includes stops at Harry’s Pub and the John Sterling FOE 2633. The Wednesday night gathering is a great way to meet up with old friends and at the same time support local business.
I challenge all local and out-of-towners, especially those from the North Baltimore class of 79’, who are able to attend to participate in this year’s Main Street pub crawl. Until then, best regards on your holiday traditions. I’ll see you on the 21st.
Traditionally yours,
Jeff Reynolds (a.k.a. – J.R.) Class of 79’ |
