In my personal preparation for Thanksgiving this year, I happened across a Children's song I wrote for Thanksgiving in 1996.

In these days of giving thanks, we do well to remember all the gifts God bestows upon us. The greatest of these gifts are love, light, life, forgiveness, guidance and, yes, the salvation won for us by the Son of God! Especially that!

May the words of this song serve as a prayer for you, a spiritual devotion.

Give Thanks Unto the Lord

Give thanks for God our God
is Love and Light and Life.

1. God is Love. God is Love.
God loved me from the start;
pours the Spirit in my heart.
Even loves me when I fall!
God is my all-in-all.

God shows me how to go:
love and peace and joy to know.
 God hears me when I pray,
 and darkness goes away.

3. God is Life. God is Life.
God gave his only Son,
 as a gift for everyone.
 He died upon a tree:
means eternal life for me!
