North Baltimore Boy Scout Troop 315 - August Newsletter (a little early)
Hello scouts and Parents (and community):
First, thank you everyone for helping at our pizza booth this weekend. We had a great time and sold lots of pizza. I will have totals for your accounts as soon as I tally our expenses. As we continue to grow. I will be very important to have such fundraiser's and participation if we want our scouts to earn their way and learn the value of the almighty dollar. The next opportunity will be the Luckey fest in September. I will be at this years event and will start scheduling in September. The luckey fest is a partnership with Troop 332, Bloomdale.
Scouts and parents alike have expressed some interest and modifications to the weekend trip coming up. So... on August 9 we will do a day trip to Mansfield State Reformatory and return home that evening. The plans are to leave the scout house at 10:00 am Saturday morning and tour the prison. Eat lunch on the grounds. Drive back and swim at Riverside pool in Findlay, the remainder of the day. Stop at Stevie B's for Pizza supper that evening and then return home. Basically one last summer event for scouts before school kicks into gear. The cost for the event would be $9.00 per scout plus money for Stevie B's at the end. If this changes plans for anyone please give me an email. I understand that Jordan, Alex, Tim and myself are going so far. THE
PLACE IS VERY COOL ! ! !
I do have a T-shirt design the scouts voted on and can now start to take orders. The cost of the shirts will be $7.00 ea. and all scouts families can order for everyone. I have included some artwork for you to inspect and will start the order sheets up this weekend. Our troop numbers , founding date and city will be around the scout emblem in final production As for color, It will be white screen on Blue shirt. Sizes from child's small to XXXLarge adult
On an added note. The committee discussed number patches with founding date combined for our class A uniforms but haven't found a good price yet. everything is very expensive, but haven't ruled out the idea.
Open house at Powell School
Tuesday August 19, Cub & Boy Scouts will have a table set up at Powell Elementary for recruiting scouts. If any of our scouts would like to talk with youth and parents about our program, please show up in uniform. This could be an easier task of our 6th graders in scouts who can do both. The time is from 5:00pm to 7:00 in the gym. Tim Brown will be there to start the event and I will be along later.
Quote from Baden Powell:
"Scouting is not an abstruse or difficult science: rather it is a jolly game if you take it in the right light. In the same time it is educative, and (like Mercy) it is apt to benefit him that giveth as well as him that receives."
