Tiger Boys Golf at Lakota Invitational
Posting Date: 08/16/2014

JP Miklovic

The North Baltimore High School Boys Golf Team went into the 2014 Lakota Invitational as the 2 - time defending champions. But gone to graduation were Jacob Frost and Garrett Boyer (and Corey Bean from 2012) who helped the Tigers "own" Loudon Meadows in Fostoria for the past two seasons. With three "rookies", the two freshman (Hagemeyer and Cotterman) and a sophomore (Swope), the Tigers knew they had a tough battle for the "three-peat".

The youngsters played very respectable rounds, working to keep their swings and emotions in control, as well as dealing with the rigors of back-to-back

18 - hole rounds. The Tiger veterans (Boyer and Wright), pushing to try carry the team to the trifecta, posted scores with which neither were satisfied.

"Golf is a game that you play one shot at a time," said Coach Miklovic, "you must forget the shot that you hit previously, and the shot that you will hit next. Each swing's routine only lasts for a couple of seconds, but for those few seconds your mind has to be calm and in physiological sync with every muscle in your body."

The Tigers have two home matches next week, with Patrick Henry on Monday, and the first BVC Match, at Birch Run here in NB, with Van Buren and Riverdale.
