NBHS Bandster Cody Switzer, son of Ron and Doreen Switzer, is one of only one hundred students nationwide, who were selected to perform in the BCS All Star Championship Game Band. They will be manning a giant flag during the game's pregame festivities, and playing during the half-time show, which will also feature musical group, Miami Sound Machine.

Cody will be wearing his NBHS uniform during the performance, and playing his baritone.
This band was invitational, so students had to be recommended by their band directors. He submitted his application mid-June, and waited until late September to find out he had been selected. (Check out that story at the end of this story to find out how Cody received the news that he made it into this band) Students had to report to Miami on January 3 to begin practicing together. They all had to learn the music before they arrived for rehearsal.

The Kids from Ohio in the band form our traditional O-H-I-O, with the help of the palm tree. Cody Switzer of North Baltimore, Rachel Harper of Columbus, and Morgan Cox of Toledo.
Cody was accompanied to Florida by his mother, Doreen who shared, "Watch closely. The family will also be on the field, helping with props." Doreen said she will be all dressed in black and probably behind the scenes.

She and Cody headed to Florida early and have been enjoying visiting with her parents in Ft. Meyers and other friends and relatives. "We are having a great time," she said.
"Game day begins with breakfast at 7:00am, followed by practice at 8:00am. We return to the hotel around 2, and leave for the game at 3:15," Doreen said.
Game time at Sunlife Stadium in Miami is 8:00pm. The band is participating in pre-game and half-time.The director of the band is Dr. Dye from University of Notre Dame. (Wonder which team he is rooting for?)Keep your eyes glued to the TV (ESPN). Hopefully you will catch a glimpse of Cody.
Cody has enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives, enjoyed a great meal at a BBQ place- Jungle Queen's Dinner Cruise, really likes the Stadium, and of course has enjoyed meeting people from all over the United States. Make sure you have him share a story with you when he returns, his mom says he has many to tell!
