The North Baltimore High School Football Tigers battled Fairview HS, the heat and humidity and the OHSAA "Lightning Rule" to a 14 - 14 draw Friday night.
The game IS scheduled to proceed Saturday night - Who We?
Fairview and NB had traded a pair of TD's each in the first half, the bands had just finished the half time shows and an official noticed (along with many others in the crow) the flashes of lightning to the north. The Ohio High School Athletic Association has instituted a rule that says if lightning is seen, then all competition must stop (in all outdoor sports) for 30 minutes from the "last" flash. The 2nd half kick-off never happened, with the 30 minute "lightning" clock being reset numerous times, due to the flashes that were obviously well to the north, with no audible thunder. However, the storm appeared imminent, so the game was called.
The Athletic Directors huddled with game management and the officials to chart a course for rescheduling the game. NB's new AD, Rob Luderman got on the phone and made the connections for a crew of officials and 2nd half will kick-off at 6:00 on Saturday evening.
There will BE NO CHARGE to get into the 2nd half of the game, as is customary. So whether you were at the game or not, you can enjoy this most excellent high school football game for FREE!
Come out and join the rest of the town in cheering the Tigers on, as the "Who We!" (I'm not really sure this is a question...) Nation works to go to 2 - 0 on the grid iron!
Photos and maybe some stats coming later...
