The North Baltimore Tiger Football team traveled to Arcadia for a Blanchard Valley Conference Football game Friday night, coming away with a 47 - 6 win.
The Tigers scored 3 times in the 1st quarter, to quickly put the game out of reach for Arcadia, as the Tiger defense stepped up big time, limiting the hosts to just 144 yards.
In the first quarter, Taylor Bishop scored the first of his 3 TD's with a 1 yard burst into the end zone, just 2 1/2 minutes into the game. Following that up with another 2 yard TD run four minutes later. The quarter was capped off with a Lane Bishop interception return for a TD of 33 yards.
NB would score three times in the 2nd quarter, as the Tigers opened up the passing attack, with QB Lane Bishop throwing 3 scores. Levi Newcomer had TD receptions of 33 and 7 yards, with Jacob Dick hauling in a 6 yard toss from L. Bishop.
At the half, NB was in the unusual position of holding a 41 - 0 lead. In the 3rd quarter, Arcadia scored on a 48 yard TD pass from Chad Baker to Austin Bohn. NB's final score was a Jacob Dick one yard run for a TD in the final period.
Offensively NB racked up 264 rushing yards and 152 passing, for a total of 416. But they also committed 9 penalties for 82 yards and lost one fumble.
Having another solid night at the helm, Lane Bishop was 9 of 15 passing, for 152 yards, with 3 TD's and NO interceptions. He ran the ball 7 times for 142 yards.
Leading the Tigers in rushing, Jacob Dick carried the pigskin 10 times, for 96 yards and a score. Taylor Bishop ran for 22 yards on 14 carries, with two TD's; Sean Watson carried the ball twice for minus four yards.
In the passing game, Bishops nine completions were to Levi Newcome who had three catches for 86 yards and two scores; Sean Watson 3 catches for 40 yards; Jacob Dick the six yard TD reception; Noah Brain hauled in a 17 yarder and T. Bishop caught a 3 yard pass.
Noah Brian kicked 5 of 7 extra point kicks, with a PAT being blocked.
Defensively NB allowed Arcadia just two first downs, while having four interceptions, one each by Brice Leonard, Jacob Dick, Noah Brian and Sean Watson with the 45 yard interception return for TD.
Arcadia was penalized 9 times for 121 yards, including two unsportsman like conducts and two personal fouls. NB also committed a personal foul.
The Tigers are now 3 - 1 overall and 1 - 1 in the BVC.
Next week North Baltimore will travel the 3 mile jaunt down the old Dixie Highway to Van Buren, to renew a rivalry that has spanned decades. The Black Knights are also, 3 - 1 overall and 1 - 1 in the BVC. Last night VB was pounded by Arlington, at home, 31 - 0. The Black Knights will be looking to tame the Tigers and providing a very stiff challenge for the Tigers.
