Posting Date: 10/09/2014

Folklore and fun is the theme for October at the Wood County Historical Center & Museum. Friday Night Folklore Tours are on October 17th and 24th. 90-minute tours begin at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 PM, and will include tales of communicable diseases, the spiritualist movement, a Guy Fawkes demonstration at the log cabin, Infirmary resident history in the Asylum, and a Day of the Dead celebration in the Paupers’ Cemetery. Reservations are required by calling 419-352-0967.

Admission is $10 per person and $8 for students and Historical Society members. The Museum is located at 13660 County Home Road in Bowling Green. Dress appropriately for both the indoor and outdoor portions of the tour, and bring a flashlight if you like.

The Wood

County Park District will also be holding several Halloween-themed activities and events. Register for the Scarecrow-making contest by October 6 or attend the Scarecrow workshop on October 7 at 6 PM. Pam the Park Naturalist will explore “creatures of the night” at a special tea on October 9 at 7 PM. A Free Pumpkin-carving workshop will be held October 16 at 6:30 PM in preparation for the Free Folklore & Funfest Family event on October 18 from 4-9 PM.

For more information, or to make a reservation, call the museum at 419-352-0967 or contact Kelli Kling, Marketing & Events Coordinator, at
