With their team back at full strength, Van Buren Volleyball came to North Baltimore to get some revenge in the opening round of the Sectional on Thursday evening.
Taking the first game 25 - 21, Van Buren set the tone for the evening, with strong play at the net and scrappy hustle, to hold off the Lady Tigers, with their never give up attitude.
In the 2nd set, NB would in fact rip on the Black Knights, winning 25 - 15, trying to show that VB was not going to come into The Jungle and beat us on our turf.
With the match even at 1 - 1, the 3rd game was tight in the early going, but VB would eventually pull away to 25 - 16 win, for the advantage in the "best of 5 or first team to 3 format".
In decisive game 4, it looked as if VB was going to easily tame the Tigers, running to a commanding lead 24 - 17, just one point from winning the match. But the Lady Tigers did not want their season to end, as they clawed their way to 5 straight points, to close to a 22 - 24 deficit. But VB needing just one point, finally put the Tigers away, for the 25-22 win.
Van Buren will now play state-ranked and undefeated McComb, at McComb, Saturday night at 6:00. McComb beat Continental in their Sectional match, at McComb, in 3 sets. The Panthers have yet to lose a set this season!
