Pandora-Gilboa and North Baltimore came into Friday's NB Homecoming game tied at 4 - 3 overall, and nearly tied in the OHSAA Region 24 playoff race, for the 8th and final position.
P-G's Jacob Basinger ran for 326 yards, scoring 6 TD's to lead PG to the 52 - 13 pounding of the Tigers.
Basinger, the BVC leader in several offensive categories, scored first on a reception of 17 yards and then a run of 58 yards in the first half, to spot PG to a 13 - 0 lead at halftime.
In the 2nd half, Basinger lit it up with TD runs of 87 yards in the 3rd, and tacked on runs of 15, 55 and 3 yards in the final period.
For the Tigers, NB took the short opening kick-off to the 39 yard line, then proceeded to pick-up 2 first downs getting to the PG 37, before stalling and punting the ball away to the Rockets, pinning them on the 4 yard line.
P-G would mount a drive that made it all the way to the Tiger 2 yard line, but faced a 4th and one, with the Tigers stuffing the runner and forcing a PG fumble that stopped that drive.
NB took over and began to drive from the two, getting out to the 19, before a costly fumble by Lane Bishop was recovered by PG, who then scored on the very next play, to take a lead that was never threatened.
For the remainder of the half, NB showed some signs of gaining momentum, but were unable to mount a sustained drive. After Basinger scored at the 6:25 mark to go in the half, NB tried twice to put together a drive to score before the half, but did not succeed.
To start the 2nd half, Basinger would take the 2nd and 3rd PG plays from scrimmage to to the house, with his runs of 58 and 87 yards, to put the game away, holding a 25 - 7 lead. PG would run just 5 plays in the 4th quarter, 4 of which were TD's.
NB scored on a 10 yard pass from Lane Bishop to Shawn Watson and a L. Bishop pass to Jacob Pelton for 14 yards.
Offensively NB gained just 34 yards on the ground, with L. Bishop carrying the ball, sometimes in the process of being sacked, 21 times. Jacob Dick carried the ball twice for 4 yards. L. Bishop was 23 of 42 passing, for 295 yards, 2 TD's and 0 interceptions. Recieving the passes were Watson - 10 for 160 yards; Noah Brian - 5 for 47 yards; Jacob Pelton - 3 for 49 yards a score; Taylor Bishop - 2 for 17 yards and Levi Newcomer - 3 for 22 yards.
Defensively the Tigers gave up 383 rushing yards and 140 passing yard = 523 total yards. NB was penalized 4 times for 25 yards. Watson and L. Bishop each had an interception. Each team lost one fumble.
